|
Osmidrosis axillae designated the peculiar smell around the armpit. It is caused as the sweat, secreted from the aporcrine sweat gland, is decomposed into fatty acid by bacterium.
Under the armpit, two sweat glands are running, that is, the eccrine sweat gland and the aporcrine sweat gland. Osmidrosis axillae are closely related with the aporcrine sweat gland. The aporcrine sweat gland is mostly being around th e armpit, and is being around the teat, the navel and the genital organs.
Ordinarily, it is begun from adolescence as the aporcrine sweat gland actively acts from that time. |

| 1. Radio-Frequency Insulating Needle |
| It can be treated by using V-Beam that acts on red capillaries, and it can be improved if the treatment is performed between 3 and 5 times at intervals of 2 weeks. |
| - What is Radio-Frequency Insulating Needle? |
| This is used to destroy the aporcrine sweat gland. It is simply performed, and patients can lead their daily life immediately after the therapy. For this reason, those who are busy working and young women prefer the therapy. Retreatment should be performed at intervals of 3 months. |

| 2. 3-Cm Incision |
| This is a surgical method that incises a region around the armpit to 3cm and peels off the skin and removes the sweat gland. It is unnecessary to incise long, because the sweat gland can be removed without problems just by 3cm. The operation is finished within 40 minutes, and the postoperative scar is very slight. |

| 3. Liposat (Suction Lipectomy) |
| To treat osmidrosis axillae basically, the aporcrine sweat gland should be removed. Liposat is a special apparatus developed by Dr. Sattler. It is used to suck out sweat gland. As sweat gland is being between the dermal layer and the adipose layer, it is difficult to remove the sweat gland close to the skin with the existing methods. The cannula, which is used in Liposat, can effectively remove the sweat gland close to the skin because its hole is opened upwardly. After the anesthesia was locally performed, two regions should be incised by 3cm and the cannula should be inserted. The cannula can be moved back and forth, the sweat gland is scratched by the motion and it is removed. |

The operation is simply performed as compared with the dilaceration, and patients hardly shed blood.
Its effect can be semi-permanent just by one-time therapy.

| 4. Depilation Laser |
| - What is Depilation Laser Treatment? |
| Since outlets of aporcrine sweat gland are mostly closed to hair follicles, it is presumed that the outlet of sweat will be clogged if the hair follicle is destroyed and then osmidrosis axillae will be solved. However, its effect will not be satisfactory as depilation cannot take off the smell of sweat. In case radio-frequency insulating needle is used concurrently with this therapy, the effect will be better. |

| - Drug Treatment |
This is to reduce or to remove the number of cutaneous bacterium that cause the smell.
The drug should be used whenever it smells.
Antibiotics, deodorants, aluminum agents, and disinfectants are mostly used.
